Signs That Your Car Brakes Need to Be Replaced
The symptoms of failing brakes may not be as a surprise, but these are the signs below you need to look for. If you are familiar with your vehicle, then you know when your vehicle is experiencing a problem. The most noticeable problem is bad brakes. Faulty brakes should be replaced immediately. Not doing so not only puts you in harm's way but others as well.
- Noisy brakes - Noisy brakes are a sure sign that something is gone or going wrong with your brakes. However, some noisy brakes are due to excessive dust buildup, but noisy brakes are often a sign of worn-out brake pads that need to be replaced. Some may describe the noise as a squealing sound, but whatever the sound, it cannot be easily ignored.
- Vibrating brakes - Pressing gently on the brakes should cause your brakes to respond by slowing down and eventually stopping your vehicle from moving. Nevertheless, when your brakes are worn or need replacing, your vehicle will vibrate. This vibration can be felt through the steering wheel, as the brake pedal makes its contacts the rotor.
- Poor braking response or no response - This is the scariest of all signs of bad or failing brakes. When you are in the middle of ongoing traffic or approaching a stop sign or a red light, you expect your brakes to respond. Oftentimes, this does not happen. Instead, your vehicle keeps right on rolling, and you feel helpless. You constantly press your brakes, and your vehicle begins to slide forward. At this point, some people panic, and their vehicle ended up rear-ending the vehicle in front of them or running through a red light.
